- No. Carti detects the shopper's language automatically from their browser settings and the message they send. It also reads your store's primary locale. There is nothing to set up.
- How does language detection work?
- Carti combines two signals: the language of the incoming message and the locale configured in your Shopify store. If a shopper writes in French, Carti responds in French. If the same shopper switches to English mid-conversation, Carti switches too.
- Does Carti support right-to-left (RTL) languages?
- Yes. Arabic, Hebrew, Urdu, Persian, Pashto, and Kurdish are all fully supported, including proper right-to-left text direction in the chat widget.
- What if a customer writes in a language Carti does not support?
- Carti will respond in your store's default language and let the customer know. This happens very rarely since the 92 supported languages cover over 95% of global internet users.
