Connect your WhatsApp Business number and Carti answers shoppers who message it. WhatsApp is still in Beta.
- In Carti, open Settings and find Where should Carti answer shoppers?
- Click Connect on the WhatsApp row. A Carti window opens.
- Pick your number. Choose Use my WhatsApp Business number if you already chat with customers in the WhatsApp Business app. You keep the app, and Carti answers alongside you. Choose Connect a new number for a number that isn't on WhatsApp yet.
- Meta's window opens. Log in to Facebook and choose your business.
- If you chose a new number, Meta texts or calls it with a code. Type it in Meta's window and skip to step 7.
- If you chose your WhatsApp Business number, Meta shows a QR code to scan from the app. That scan is sometimes slow on Meta's side, so it's often easier to scroll down in Meta's window and click Use an access code instead. Then, on your phone, open WhatsApp Business (not your personal WhatsApp), go to Settings, then Account, then Business Platform, and tap Connect. Choose Share when it asks about your chat history, and scan the QR code or type the access code.
- Back in Meta's window, click Next and finish. You can skip adding a payment method for now.
When it's done, the WhatsApp row in Settings shows Connected. To try it, message your number from another phone. Carti should answer within a few seconds.
Good to know
- Scan or type the code in Business Platform, not Linked devices. Linked devices is a different feature, and it hangs the same way.
- If you don't see Business Platform, update WhatsApp Business from your phone's app store and look again.
- A number that's already connected to another provider, such as a helpdesk, can't connect to Carti as well.
