What does Carti send to Klaviyo?

Daniel Anderson
Daniel Anderson

Founder of Carti

Carti sends Klaviyo three things: chat sign-ups, events about what happened in the chat, and one profile property. It never sends what shoppers type.

Sign-ups

When a shopper signs up for your offer in the chat, Carti adds them to the list you picked in Settings, with Carti chat as the source. That happens when the sign-up counts as consent: the shopper verified their email with a code, or your offer settings mark sign-ups as subscribed to email marketing. If the list uses double opt-in, Klaviyo first emails them to confirm.

Carti also tells Klaviyo who just signed up, right on your store, so your browse and cart abandonment flows can reach them, including pages they viewed shortly before.

Events

Carti sends events for shoppers Klaviyo can match: someone who signed up in the chat, a logged-in customer, or a visitor Klaviyo already knows from your emails. Chats with anonymous visitors send nothing.

  • Started Conversation, once per chat.
  • Received Product Recommendation, each time Carti shows products.
  • Received Discount Offer, when a shopper unlocks your offer.

In Klaviyo, you'll find them under Analytics, then Metrics, and in each shopper's profile activity.

What each event includes

Started Conversation

  • TranscriptURL: a link to the chat in Carti, inside your Shopify admin
  • PageURL: the page the shopper started chatting on
  • Channel: always web chat
  • ConversationID: Carti's ID for the chat

Received Product Recommendation

  • Products: up to 10 products, each with Name, URL, ImageURL, Price and ProductID (the Shopify product ID)
  • ProductNames: just the product names
  • ProductCount: how many products Carti showed
  • TranscriptURL and ConversationID, as above

Received Discount Offer

  • Code: the discount code the shopper unlocked
  • OfferTitle and Description: your offer's name and description
  • ApplyCodeURL: a link that applies the code and brings the shopper back to the page they were on
  • TranscriptURL and ConversationID, as above

Profile property

Carti sets Carti Last Chat At on each profile it can match, to the time of the shopper's latest chat.

What Carti never sends

Carti never sends what shoppers type. Each event carries a link to the conversation instead, which opens in Carti inside your Shopify admin.
